अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदाऽऽत्मानं सृजाम्यहम्॥

Understand the context
This is Krishna’s statement about divine manifestation, within the connected discussion of 4.6–4.9. The following verse speaks of protecting the good and establishing dharma. Vaishnava traditions connect these verses with avatara. A reader can consider the duty to protect others without claiming that a present-day political leader is therefore a divine incarnation.
