मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि॥

Meaning in everyday language
Your responsibility is to act; the outcome is not yours to command. Do not let the reward become your sole motive, and do not become attached to doing nothing.
Understand the context
Krishna speaks to Arjuna in a teaching about disciplined action. The last part matters: releasing a demand for guaranteed success does not excuse avoiding responsibility. A student can plan, practise and correct mistakes while recognising that a result also depends on factors beyond personal effort. This is an application, not a promise that devotion guarantees marks.
